Time and Value

As the Director of Marketing at Monolith, I am constantly learning about the monitoring space and amazed at how many products and organizations are out there either talking about monitoring or feuding with each other in public venues over which products/companies are superior. One of the things that I have not found a lot of information on is the amount of time relative to the amount of value a specific solution can produce. There a ton of solutions out there that can provide a fair amount of value right out of the box, but as time goes on can those solutions scale and offer flexibility as your business grows? Consequently, there are solutions that are 900 pound gorillas which take a significant amount of time to implement and the value that they provide grows in time. However as time moves on so do resources and patience by executives in implementing the solution that has likely cost millions.
So what is the solution? Well the chart above is blank for a reason. Take your existing monitoring solution and ask how long it has taken to implement vs. value. Next take that chart and ask if the value is scalable as you grow. Perhaps you are fine, then chose not to read this post any further. However, if you are like most organizations things change and so do your needs. As the digital age continues to change almost hourly, can you scale your current solution to adapt to that change or will it require significant resources to do so.
Think about it and let me know what you think.
