Software Development Engineer

Job Description:

Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements software programming applications. Supports and/or installs software applications/operating systems. Participates in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard software development concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Participation in software design
  • Code creation
  • Builds of installations/upgrades
  • Unit/release testing
  • Reporting/tracking of development efforts
  • Component documentation
  • Tier 3 support to include bug tracking/reporting/resolution

Must be a team player, responsible, go-getter positive attitude, has focus, can set and meet deadlines, drives internal growth, efficient, follows process, communicates well, and takes direction well.

Skills Required:

  • Operating Systems (Linux RHEL/CentOS and Windows 2003 Server)
  • Perl – Perlapp preferred
  • PHP/Smarty – Sourceguardian preferred
  • MySQL – Advanced Architectures preferred
  • Apache
  • HTML5 (AJAX, SVG, etc.)
  • Version Control – Subversion preferred
  • Graphic Design capabilities a plus
  • Infrastructure management software experience a plus

Additional Information:

  • Requires that employee be based in the greater Chicago, IL area
  • Telecommuting is possible as long as deadlines and efficiency/productivity goals are met
  • W2 salary plus quarterly bonus potential, health benefits, and paid time off
