Event Router
Monolith's Event Router is the industry first commercially supported solution for filtering, forwarding and processing SNMP traps and Syslog messages. It is an appliance designed to enhance and streamline the event management process. It is primarily deployed by network / systems / security management groups as a centralized event gateway and forwarding system.
Many devices can only report traps and/or syslogs to a limited set of management hosts. Additionally, it is never easy or convenient to re-configure a wide range of devices whenever you bring a new management, security or auditing system online. By contrast, it's much easier for all devices to be configured to send their events to a central system which is responsible for exploding the events out to other destinations or systems.
Since Event Router may be used as the distribution point for all of your events, you can easily reconfigure your management tools without changing the trap destination for your devices.
Events that are forwarded to Monolith Event Router can be configured to be dropped, logged, forwarded or converted to one or multiple destinations. This is done while preserving the originating source address and time stamp information. Events can be in the form of SNMP traps, Syslog Alerts, lines in a Log File, Sockets, etc.
Events can be received and generated such that an event can arrive in one form (e.g., SNMP) and forwarded in another form (e.g., Syslog). Event Router can also receive events from systems like Nagios, Snort, DFM, etc. and forward to other systems like a MySQL database, Monolith Event Manager, Netcool/OMNIbus, or can be used to just send an e-mail. Modules for new types of events can be easily written.
