Synthetic Transactions

Aside from the traditional service (DNS, DHCP, FTP, HTTP, NTP, SMTP) and availability (ICMP/Ping) checks organizations today are often looking to monitor the performance and availability of specific custom transactions. Monolith's synthetic transaction engine resides within Metric Manager. The synthetic transaction engine allows Monolith to monitor and test web-based applications, signed-client applications, and custom command-line checking for applications.

This data is then integrated into the Monolith system in the following manner:

  • Availability metrics
  • Performance metrics
  • Up/Down events generated
  • Performance threshold events generated
  • Driving Monolith's dashboard widgets
  • A major benefit of Monolith is our ability to not only perform service checks for our existing pool of available monitors but also any custom service or application check that is desired. Once the synthetic transaction is created you simply need to name it, schedule it and run it.
